Where is the Blue Lagoon of Pagudpud?

Want a place to relax and avoid the crowded city life? Try going north and visit a once unpopular place called Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte Philippines. My parents works in the north and stays in San Carlos City Pangasinan. My father, because of his work, was able to see the beauty of Pagudpud. It's several hours away from Manila, but if your up for a long drive, then you should include Pagudpud in your list. Be ready for a tiring travel, but it definitely is worth it for Pagudpud indeed is a paradise away from the city.

The Blue Lagoon is the most known place in Pagudpud Ilocos Norte Philippines. Known among the locals as Malingay Cove, Blue Lagoon used to be a secret getaway. Blue Lagoon is one secret beach that is becoming popular lately. The color of the sand of the Blue Lagoon is off white and grainy like the Boat Station 3 of Boracay. What's amazing about the Blue Lagoon is that it looks like a big blue swimming pool. There are no resorts in the area except for a resort near the place called Kapuluan Vista Resort. If you want to see the sunset in the beach's horizon, you would be disappointed because Blue Lagoon is situated where the sun sets behind its back covered by the mountains.

The price of the food in Blue Lagoon are quite expensive. So if you are on a budget, make sure that you pack some food. There are no ATM Machines in Pagudpud so bring enough cash for your expenses.

I hope I could, if not this summer, be able to visit Pagudpud especially the Blue Lagoon of the North or commonly searched as Pagudpud Ilocos Norte Philippines.

What is an LG Watch Phone?

A watch or a phone? Why not have a watch and a phone all in one? It looks quite intuitive, and the tempered glass on the surface apparently works as a capacitive touch screen, making it as easy to use as the one on the iPhone. You will be surprised at how easy it will seem to dial numbers on the tiny dial pad, even though the screen only measures 1.43 inches diagonally. According to LG, texting will be done in a similar manner with a virtual T9 keypad.

The LG watch phone has a music player that is quite easy to use. The sound coming from the speakers on the watch is surprisingly loud, though using a Bluetooth headset of some kind is still suggested. The watch phone supports stereo Bluetooth, so you can use that to listen to tunes. Ask how much storage was in the phone, it was somewhere around 70MB, but that could change by the time the device launches. The charging pins are on the underside of the watch, which can then be connected to a charging connector. The strap can also be adjusted quite easily. On the right side of the watch are three buttons: the Talk, Clear, and End buttons, respectively.

And if that wasn't cool enough for you, the LG Watch Phone even has a camera. Yes, on the upper right corner of the phone is a tiny little camera that apparently will be used for video conferencing. No word on whether it's a megapixel camera or not, but even if it's VGA, it still is incredibly James Bond.

The LG Watch Phone will be available in Europe later this year, but pricing is not yet known, and the company has no plans to bring it to the U.S. just yet. It'll be available in a range of colors, from black and silver to blue, red, and even pink. It'll have quad-band GSM and 3G/HSDPA.

Check out the LG Watch Phone slide show for a closer look at it.

What is USB Home Pregnancy Test Kit?

Ever wonder what a USB can do other than store or save files?

Think again. Think Geek is carrying the p-Teq USB Pregnancy Test, a USB device that tells you whether or not you're in the family way. Just pee on the porous part of the stick then connect it to your computer. The USB connection starts the electrospray ionization process on the device, creating a spectrograph of your urine. The mass spectrometry software then will give you an analysis of your hormone levels so you can clear your calendar in advance after reviewing the data. Not only can this US$17.99 device tell you if you're pregnant, it can even detect LH (luteinizing hormone) levels, which reveals when you're most fertile if you and your hubby have been trying to have a baby.

It also reveals the exact concentration of hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin) through its on-screen interface and can also provide the estimated delivery date based on the concentrations of hormones in your urine.

And yes, it is reusable, just change the test strip.

Where is Tonga?

NUKU'ALOFA, Tonga – An undersea volcano erupted off the coast of Tonga shooting clouds of smoke, steam and ash thousands of feet (meters) into the sky above the South Pacific ocean, officials said Wednesday.

Spectacular columns spewed out of the sea about 6 miles (10 kilometers) from the southwest coast off the main island of Tongatapu — an area where up to 36 undersea volcanoes are clustered, said Tonga's geological service head, Keleti Mafi.

"It's a very significant eruption, on quite a large scale," he told The Associated Press.

There was no sign the offshore eruption posed any danger to residents, he said, with trade winds blowing gas and steam away from the island.

Residents said the steam and ash column first appeared on Monday morning, after a series of sharp earthquakes were felt in the capital, Nuku'alofa.

"This is not unusual for this area and we expect this to happen here at any time," Mafi said, adding that a similar eruption took place there in 2002.

A Defense Force boat was expected to travel to the region soon to check the area.

It was likely the underwater eruption was taking place to the west of the low-lying twin volcanic islands of Hunga Tonga and Hunga Ha'apai, within sight of Nuku'alofa.

Large amounts of pumice thrown up by the erupting volcano would likely clog beaches on the southern coast of nearby Fiji islands within a short time, he said.

Tonga, a 170-island archipelago about halfway between Australia and Tahiti, is part of the Pacific "ring of fire" — an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones stretching from Chile in South America through Alaska and down through Vanuatu to Tonga.

Who is Charles Manson?

Charles Milles Manson was born November 12, 1934, an American criminal who led what became known as the Manson Family, a quasi-commune that arose in California in the late 1960s. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit the Tate/LaBianca murders, which members of the group carried out at his instruction. Through the joint-responsibility rule of conspiracy, he was convicted of the murders themselves.

Manson is associated with "Helter Skelter," the term he took from the Beatles song of that name and construed as an apocalyptic race war the murders were putatively intended to precipitate. This connection with rock music linked him, from the beginning of his notoriety, with pop culture, in which he became an emblem of insanity, violence, and the macabre. Ultimately, the term was used as the title of the book that prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi wrote about the Manson murders.

At the time the Family began to form, Manson was an unemployed ex-convict, who had spent half his life in correctional institutions for a variety of offenses. In the period before the murders, he was a distant fringe member of the Los Angeles music industry, chiefly via a chance association with Beach Boy Dennis Wilson. After Manson was charged with the crimes, recordings of songs written and performed by him were released commercially. Artists including Guns N' Roses and Marilyn Manson have covered his songs in the decades since.

Manson's death sentence was automatically reduced to life imprisonment when a decision by the Supreme Court of California temporarily eliminated the state's death penalty in 1972. California's eventual reestablishment of capital punishment did not affect Manson, who is an inmate at Corcoran State Prison.

Where is Pagudpud?

Pagudpud is a coastal resort town on the northernmost tip of Luzon in the Philippines. Pagudpud is bounded to the south by the town of Bangui and to the east by the Cordillera Mountain Range, the town of Adams and the province of Cagayan. The South China Sea lies to the west and north. The town rolls over mountains, hills, valleys and flat coastal land. Pagudpud lies 45 miles north of Laoag City, the provincial capital, and about 350 miles north of Manila.

According to the 2000 census, Pagudpud has a population of 19,315 people. They reside in 3,804 homes that are spread across 83 square miles. Most make their living through farming, fishing and subsistence retailing. Tourism is a growing part of the economy.

Pagudpud was made a municipality on February 5, 1954. Unlike Laoag City, the province's only autonomous city, Pagudpud derives its authority from the provincial government. It had previously been a part of the neighboring town of Bangui.

Highlights

Its white-sand beaches and crystal-blue water makes Pagudpud a haven for tourists. Maira-Ira Point is also an emerging attraction with its secluded beach known as the Blue Lagoon. Access to this public beach is from a secondary concrete road on the north side of the Maharlika Highway just before approaching the Patapat Viaduct. On the way to the Blue Lagoon, a sea arch can be seen. Coconut trees line much of the town's coast. On a clear day, the Batanes Islands are visible from Patapat National Park.

The Patapat Viaduct, elevated 31 meters over sea level, is 1.3 km concrete coastal bridge that connects the Maharlika Highway from Laoag, Ilocos Norte to the Cagayan Valley Region. It rises along the town's coastal mountains, which is the starting point of the Cordillera Mountain Range that snakes through Northern Luzon. It is the 4th longest bridge in the Philippines. Located more than 16 kilometers from the town proper, it offers a scenic view of Pasaleng Bay- a view that leads towards wide and pristine beaches backed by mountains with breathtaking waterfalls Kabigan and Mabaga, along with the many cool, refreshing springs waiting to be discovered within.

What is a Spaetzle?

Spaetzle is a type of egg noodles and small dumplings found in the cuisine of Germany and regions of neighboring Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Hungary called csipetke, nokedli, galuska, (Spaetzle or Little Dumplings), in France (Alsace), and in the Province of Bolzano-Bozen.

Preparation of Spaetzle combined with Cheese and Onions

Spaetzle dough typically consists of few ingredients, principally eggs, flour, and salt. Often, water is added to produce a thinner dough. One traditional method of determining the correct proportions of ingredients is to use as many eggs as there will be people served, plus one egg. To the eggs an equal volume of water or milk is added. Then gradually enough flour is added to reach the desired consistency. This varies from a very soft, sticky dough to a very thick batter.

In addition to salt, spices such as nutmeg, dill, or caraway may be used, depending on what foods the spaetzle will accompany. For certain specialty dishes, the dough may be enriched with minced pork liver (resulting in Leberspätzle), spinach, or finely grated cheese. Small liver dumplings are frequent additions to soup. In Austrian cuisine, "Speckknödel" (with chopped bacon as ingredient) are added to soup. The consistency of the dough and the method used to form the pasta affects the resulting shape; common variants are button shaped spaetzle (small Knöpfle) and elongated, more noodle-like spaetzle. Handmade spaetzle is formed by scraping strips of dough from a cutting board or by pushing the dough through a mechanical device. Whichever method is used, the noodles are formed directly over a large pot of boiling water (usually) or broth, into which they drop. After boiling gently for about three minutes, the noodles rise to the surface, are drained and served immediately. Several types of special purpose spaetzle maker are available, that resemble a strainer, (or colander), a potato ricer, a food mill or coarse grater. Common spaetzle shapes are long thin noodles, thick small dumpling with an elongated shape and small oval or round dumplings (knöpfle, which means buttons). All are more or less irregular. (Commercially made noodles marketed as spaetzle may bear little resemblance to handmade spaetzle, being more or less regular in shape, and dried.)
